Bentley Wood High School Library

Message from Ms Mortimer our school librarian

At Bentley Wood, we are very proud of our large, beautiful and well-stocked library. A hub of learning, reading and relaxation, it strengthens our community and attracts students from every year group.

The library is home to more than 20,000 books, as well as online resources including an E-library and access to a range of academic magazines. We also have a brand new 26-computer IT suite. With new books arriving every week, we always make sure that students have access to brand new releases by their favourite authors and all the relevant study material they need.

We also hold events throughout the year that celebrate reading. These include author visits, competitions, poetry slams, quizzes, book sales, sponsored reads and more! We're passionate about reading for pleasure; it's one of the most rewarding things you can do for both your well-being and your learning development.

I am looking forward to welcoming you to the library in September and lending you your first library books! Please see below a number of reading activities for you to complete and also an exciting competition which you can enter by the 31st August

Everyone joining Year 7 in September is invited to join our library poetry competition!

Write a poem about starting high school.

Think about how you’re feeling about it. What are you looking forward to?
What are you worried about? Maybe you’re just excited!

You can make your poem rhyme, but it doesn’t have to.

The winner of the competition will win brand new books in September!
To enter the competition simply add your name and attach your poem at the following link
