We hope you and your families are keeping well and that your daughters are enjoying the last few weeks at their primary schools.
Following feedback from a large number of primary and secondary schools, transition day for Year 6 in to 7 will take place using online materials and not in school on the 7th of July as originally planned. The decision has not been taken lightly and we recognise the importance of face to face transition for Year 6 learners. However, given current government guidance, the risk of further spread and the associated disruption additional positive cases would bring to Year 6 classes for the remainder of the school year, this decision is in the best interests of all.
We will provide virtual resources to support Year 6 learners with their transition and primary schools will support their learners to access this in the most appropriate way for their cohort. This will be launched on the 7th July.
Where a primary school feels that a vulnerable learner needs an in-person transition experience, they will contact the secondary school to arrange this.
We will be holding welcome presentation and tours of the school on Friday 16th July, Saturday 17th July and Monday 19th July and would like to invite you to attend with your daughter. We have some things we would like the students to take home with them. On this occiasion we will allow parents to drive on site, please enter by the Clamp Hill entrance and leave by the Bridges road entrance
Each meeting will start with a presentation in the Hall, for COVID safety reasons this will need to be restricted each Year 6 student to a single accompanying guest. Each pair will be sat socially distanced from other pairs for a 10 to 15 minute welcome. At the end of the speech a 20 minute tour, mostly outside, will be conducted be a senior member of staff, giving all students and guest the opportunity to see the school building and ask questions about the start of term.
Please use the link below to give us an idea of your first and second choice from the six appointment times outlined below and we will try to accomadate you. Presentations will start and finish promptly to minimise times inside for groups of people and to give us time to clean down seats before the next presentation starts.
